Holsman Named New Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach at Grand Rapids High School

GRAND RAPIDS, MN — Grand Rapids High School has officially named Zach Holsman as the new Head Coach of the Boys Varsity Basketball program. A familiar face to the local basketball community, Holsman steps into the role with a deep understanding of Northern Minnesota hoops and a proven track record of player development.

For the past several seasons, Holsman has served as a vital asset to the Thunderhawk' program as an assistant coach. His transition to the head coaching position represents a natural next step for a program looking to maintain continuity while building toward sustained postseason success.

Beyond his time on the high school bench, Holsman has been a driving force behind the growth of youth basketball across the community. As an involved member of the Grand Rapids Area Basketball Association (GRABA) Board of Directors, he has dedicated countless hours to cultivating the next generation of Thunderhawks. Holsman has been leading the highly successful Boys Summer Youth Camp, along with Coach Bauer, and launched the innovative Summer Skills Academy, providing year-round development opportunities for local athletes.

The GRABA Board of Directors shared their enthusiastic support for the hiring, noting that Holsman's dual role in youth development and varsity leadership creates a perfect bridge for the community's basketball pipeline.

"The GRABA Board is incredibly excited to see Zach get this opportunity with the Varsity Team," the Board said in a statement. "He has poured so much into our youth programs, and we look forward to seeing him continue to help grow the game of basketball with our youth while leading the high school program to new heights."

With summer workouts right around the corner, Holsman is expected to hit the ground running, bringing his trademark energy from the youth camps straight to the varsity hardwood.
