Volunteer (DIBS) Policy for Grand Rapids Area Basketball Association

Volunteer (DIBS) Policy for Grand Rapids Area Basketball Association Revised 6/24/25

Purpose:

To make a safe, fun, and affordable program GRABA seeks active participation of all families. This policy ensures we can continue to provide a high-quality program and fosters a spirit of community collaboration.

Policy Overview:

Each family is required to contribute a minimum of 2 hours of volunteer service per athlete. This helps to ensure the smooth operation of our programs and supports our staff, participants, and volunteers. The following outlines the terms and conditions of our volunteer policy.

Volunteer Commitment:

• Required Hours: 3rd – 8th grade families must complete 2 hours of volunteer service per athlete, no matter how many players there are in the household; with a maximum of 4 hours. 9th – 12th grade families must complete 4 hours of volunteer service in total. 4 hours will be the maximum required for any 1 family.

• Season Definition: The season begins on the first day of GRABA minicamp practices and runs through the end of the GRABA Travel or Varsity season, whichever comes last.

• Volunteer Opportunities: Throughout the season, a range of volunteer opportunities will be available on Crossbar. Families are encouraged to check regularly for new opportunities to get involved. To ensure that concessions are staffed, DIBS may be filled by organizations or people other than GRABA up to 2 weeks prior to the date of the shift.

• Pre-Payment: All DIBS time is pre-paid and reimbursed at the end of the season. DIBS hours not signed up through CrossBar cannot be tracked or reimbursed.

DIBS Fees by Grade Level:

The table below outlines the fees/buyout for each grade level.

Grade - Amount

K–2 - $0.00

3–6 - $50.00

7 – 8 - $100.00

Acknowledgement:

By registering your player, each family acknowledges and agrees to the terms of this Volunteer Policy and commits to fulfilling the volunteer requirement for the season, except as noted for exempt roles.
