The goal of the 10,000 Shot Club is simple: build the muscle memory and confidence you need to succeed in high-pressure game situations by dedicating your off-season to improvement.
Players who successfully complete the challenge and submit their tracking logs will earn:
- The Official 10,000 Shot Club T-Shirt.
- Recognition in front of the home crowd at the first Varsity Game of the year!
Dates: June 1st through August 31st (The 3 months of summer).
The Goal: Complete at least 10,000 shots over the course of the summer.
Daily Breakdown: To hit your goal, you'll need to average around 110 shots a day if you shoot daily.
If you choose to take one rest day each week, your target is about 125 shots a day.
Rules & Tracking Guidelines
1. Keep an Honest Log
You must track your shooting workouts using a log signed by a parent or guardian. You can use a paper form, a Google Sheet, an Excel spreadsheet, or a note on your phone. (Note: Parents don't need to watch every shot, they just need to support your time on the court and verify your completed sessions ).
2. Shoot "Game Shots" at "Game Speed"
Playing casual games like "Horse" or "Lightning" is fun, but it won't prepare you for the season. You should shoot your shots at game speed as often as possible —especially when you are tired.
- Start close to the basket to establish proper form, then work your way out.
- Mix it up: Include finishes at the rim, pull-up jump shots off the dribble, ball screen attacks, and catch-and-shoot outside shots.
3. Don't Forget Free Throws!
Free throws absolutely count! Use them as a productive break during your intense game-speed workouts to catch your breath while still building perfect form. For example, shoot 25 game-speed shots, rest with 10 free throws, and repeat.
4. Attending Basketball Camps?
If you are at camp or forget your exact numbers, use these standard rules of thumb to count toward your total:
- Regular Basketball Camp: 150 shots per day
- Shooting Camp: 250 shots per day
- General Shooting Workout: 5–10 shots for every minute, depending on the shot type
Tips for a Great Summer
Write down your daily and weekly goals.
Establish a repeatable practice time and routine.
Begin each day with perfect form shooting close to the rim.
Push through the fatigue—don't just stop when you get tired.
Develop a shooter’s mentality: believe every single shot is going in!
